Scandal’s Darby Stanchfield joins Netflix’s Locke & Key

February 2, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Darby Stanchfield (Scandal) has signed on to play the matriarch Nina Locke in Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s horror-fantasy comic book series.

Locke & Key revolves around three siblings who move with their mother to their ancestral home in Maine following the gruesome murder of their father, and soon discover that the house has magical keys that give them a vast array of powers and abilities. However, little do they know, a devious demon also wants the keys, and will stop at nothing to attain them.

Stanchfield joins a cast that includes Jackson Robert Scott (It), Connor Jessup (American Crime) and Emilia Jones (Incident in a Ghostland). The role of Nina Locke was previously portrayed by Miranda Otto in Fox’s 2011 pilot and Frances O’Connor in the recent Hulu pilot, which Netflix has retooled for this latest iteration.

Joe Hill has developed the TV adaptation, which has a 10-episode order from Netflix and sees Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Meredith Averill (The Haunting of Hill House) serving as showrunners.
