Following Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World trilogy, the Jurassic Park franchise is set to undergo a new evolution in 2025 as Godzilla and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story director Gareth Edwards launches an all-new chapter with Jurassic World Rebirth, and thanks to Empire we’ve got a new look from the film featuring the franchise’s new lead Scarlett Johansson in dino-hunting mode.
Jurassic World Rebirth has been scripted by David Koepp, who penned the screenplay for Steven Spielberg’s 1993 original Jurassic Park, with Johansson set to portray the character of Zora Bennett, who is leading “an intrepid team racing to secure DNA samples from the three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air.”
“She’s looking for meaning in her life after leaving the military,” states Edwards in an interview with Empire, “and this opportunity comes along where [after it] basically she’d never have to work again. But through that journey, she starts to question the ethical rights and wrongs of what they’re doing.”
“It goes back to what I loved about the original, with an embarrassment of riches of different set-piece-type scenarios and tense, fun action moments” Edwards continues, teasing the next chapter of the blockbuster franchise. “There were a lot of opportunities as a filmmaker to have a lot of fun and try and play games with the audience.”
Jurassic World Rebirth will see Scarlett Johansson joined in the cast by Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, and Ed Skrein. It is set for release on July 2nd 2025.
