Having successfully reinvigorated the Scream franchise to record-breaking box-office returns and critical praise, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, better known as part of the creative collective Radio Silence, have signed on to direct and produce a a classic monster movie for Universal.
According to The Hollywood Reporter the Ready or Not duo will direct the untitled project, with Radio Silence’s Chad Villella producing.
While details are as scarce as a vampire’s reflection, the story does state that the project was once called Dracula’s Daughter, and told the story of a gang of kidnappers who abduct a group of young people, but unbeknownst to them one of their captives is the titular blood-sucker, which obviously spells trouble for the criminals.
The script for the untitled project has been written by The Hole in the Ground‘s Stephen Shields, with revisions by Ready or Not‘s Guy Busick.
Universal have been trying to get another of their monster movies off the ground ever since Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Manturned out to be one of 2020’s best films, grossing a pandemic effected $144 million from a miniscule $7 million budget.
