Scream: The TV Series moves to VH1 with July debut for season 3, first look trailer released

June 25, 2019 by Liam Waddington

After a long three and a half years wait, the revamped third season of Scream is finally going to air in July on a brand-new network – moving from MTV to VH1. You can watch the trailer here…

The latest season, titled Scream: Resurrection, will consist of six episodes and is set to debut on Monday, 8th July, and will run for two hours per night (two back-to-back episodes) for three straight nights, through Wednesday 10th July.

Originally announced back in 2016, the third season of Scream centres on Deion Elliot (RJ Cyler), a local star football running back, whose tragic past comes back to haunt him and threaten his hard-earned plans for the future — and the lives of his unlikely group of friends. However, this latest season will features an all-new cast, premise and location, meaning the cliffhanger at the end of season 2 will most likely not be resolved.

They are not the only changes to season three, with VH1 using the actual Ghostface mask seen in the movies, which MTV’s Scream was unable to use on-screen. Additionally, the original voice actor for the killer in the Scream film franchise, Roger Jackson, will also be returning and reprising his role in the newest season.

The cast for season three includes Mary J. Blige, Keke Palmer, Tyler Posey, Tyga, Giorgia Whigham, Jessica Sula, C.J. Wallace, Giullian Yao Gioiello, and Paris Jackson guest starring. Wes Craven – the late mastermind behind the hugely successful film franchise – is to be credited as executive producer alongside Queen Latifah, Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley, Marianne Maddalena and Cathy Konrad. Matthew Signer and Keith Levine will serve as producers of the series, with VH1’s Maggie Malina and Dana Gotlieb-Carter overseeing the project.
