Over the weekend we heard the first comments from The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb about Sony’s decision to reboot the franchise alongside Marvel Studios – with Webb admitting that he’s “sad to surrender” the series – and now another former Spidey filmmaker has shared his opinion on the latest take on the wall-crawler.
“It’s cool that we’ll get to see another incarnation,” said Spider-Man trilogy helmer Raimi during a Comic-Con panel for the Starz series Ash vs. Evil Dead. “I think it’s a good choice for Marvel to go with high school Peter Parker. It’s really interesting. That’s where I loved it the most, when he’s in high school, struggling to keep his grades up and being bullied by Flash Thompson. It’s filled with angst.”
