Neon has dropped the first trailer for The Florida Project-director Sean Baker’s Palme d’Or-winning love-story Anora.
The film earned an eight-minute standing ovation at Cannes, and tells the story of Anora (Mikey Madison), an Uzbek-American stripper whose boss regularly sets her up with Russian-speaking clients. One night, she meets Vanya (Mark Eidelstein), the wealthy young son of a Russian oligarch, who hires her to be his girlfriend for the week. Unexpectedly, the two fall in love and elope, only for his parents to find out and do everything in their power to stop the couple.
Anora also stars Yuri Borisov, Karren Karagulian, Vache Tovmasyan, Lindsey Normington, Ivy Wolk, Luna Sofía Miranda, Alena Gurevich, Aleksei Serebryakov and Darya Ekamasova. Check out the trailer below…
“Anora, a sex worker from Brooklyn, gets her chance at a Cinderella story when she meets and marries the son of an oligarch. Once the news reaches Russia, her fairytale is threatened as the parents set out for New York to get the marriage annulled.”
Anora is in theaters from October 18th, 2024.
