The Tracking Board is reporting that Marvel star Sebastian Stan has signed on for the lead role in Beat the Reaper, an adaptation of Josh Bazell’s debut novel, which has Gore Verbinski (A Cure for Wellness) directing.
Beat the Reaper tells the story of “a young ER doctor whose life is upended when a patient recognizes him from his past life as a mafia hitman. He’s forced to fight to stay alive as old enemies come out of the woodwork to destroy him.”
The film is being produced by New Regency and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way, and has been scripted by Brian Koppelman and David Levien (Billions), who will also serve as executive producers.
Stan was most recently seen in I, Tonya, and will reprise the role of Bucky Barnes, a.k.a. The Winter Soldier, for next month’s Avengers: Infinity War. His other upcoming roles include Destroyer opposite Nicole Kidman, and We Have Always Lived in the Castle with Alexandra Daddario.
