A Sega Saturn classic gets a new lease for life today as Clear River Games and developer City Connection release Assault Suit Leynos 2 Saturn Tribute on Playstation and Nintendo Switch. Originally called Assault Suit Leynos 2, this classic run-and-gun mecha game was only released in Japan. Now, gamers outside of Japan can enjoy this title in all its pixelated glory. Watch the game’s launch trailer below…
In this Saturn classic, players head to the year 2123 AD to take on a relentless mechanised army following the assassination of a high-ranking politician. Armed with a humanoid robotic weapon called an Assault Suit, players will take charge of the 12th Special Assault Suits Squad in a space-faring conflict.
Players will be able to fully customise multiple Assault Suits with a large variety of weapons, including some that couldn’t be obtained in the original game due to bug fixes. Players can select auto or manual aiming but will have to choose carefully which weapon they equip as certain weapons can alter the field-of-view.
Among the new features are a rewind option, allowing players to correct those fatal mistakes. Plus there’s a quick save option for those who want to tackle each challenge at their own pace. If that wasn’t enough, players can look forward to Rapid Fire, Enhanced Boost Functionality for additional strategic options, increased durability of the Assault Suit and a Hint Function, to make the game proceed at an easier pace.
Assault Suit Leynos 2 Saturn Tribute is available now on the Playstation Store for both PS4 and PS5, and the Nintendo Switch Shop. Those who prefer physical media will be able to purchase the game on 22nd May.
