SEGA’s Sonic Origins will race onto PC and consoles in June

April 20, 2022 by Andrew Newton

SEGA has announced they will be releasing Sonic Origins on PC and consoles on 23rd June (which just so happens to be Sonic’s birthday) and will feature all the classic games from his early years on the SEGA Mega Drive, including Sonic The Hedgehog 1, 2, Sonic  & Knuckles and Sonic CD.  These have been digitally remastered and have new content, modes and features to make fans of Sonic drool in anticipation.  A new trailer can be seen below…

Sonic Origins will allow players to race through remastered versions of iconic levels like the Green Hill Zone and Chemical Plant Zone at break-neck speeds, collecting rings and saving the world from the nefarious deeds of the evil Dr. Eggman.  Take control of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles in fully remastered versions of the classic games that built up one of the most beloved characters in gaming history.

Players will be able to relive the excitement of these fast-paced games in Classic or Anniversary modes.  Classic mode will provide the original experience with finite lives and the old game over style, while Anniversary mode will offer an infinite number of lives so the fun can just go on and on without any game overs.

Key features of Sonic Origins include:

  • Four classic games – Sonic The Hedgehog 1, 2, Sonic  & Knuckles and Sonic CD.
  • Two game modes – Classic and Anniversary.
  • Players can test their skills in special missions and earn Medallions which can be used to unlock new content from the vault.
  • A brand new visual presentation and animation enhancements for current gen’ consoles.

Sonic Origins launches on 23rd June and is available to pre-order now.  Those who do will gain exclusive pre-order rewards.
