As Disney and Marvel look to expand their roster of movies to three per year, it seems many directors are looking to jump on the band wagon as a way of furthering their profile. We’ve already seen how directing Thor: The Dark World got Alan Taylor the job on Terminator: Genisys and Guardian of the Galaxy turned former Troma writer and Scooby Doo scribe James Gunn into a major player.
During an interview to promote the Oscar nominated movie, Selma director Ava DuVernay said she was looking to add her name to the list.
“That would probably be the first step… figuring out what they got over there,” Ava told HitFix. “I’m not a big comic book fan, but I know that I love to deconstruct heroes, deconstruct myths. I probably would want to do some kind of origin story, where you get to the core of it, before they get the powers. I don’t know about Marvel, but I know I love to tell all kinds of stories, so I don’t say no to anything; everything’s possible.”
Selma is out now in cinemas and features a cast that includes David Oyelowo, Tom Wiilkinson, Giovanni Ribiiisi, Carmen Ejogo, Cuba Gooding Jr, Oprah Winfrey, Common, and Tim Roth.
