Horror and puppets go together well (the million films in the Puppet Master series are testament to that) but the latest offering from developer Dread XP will bring the horror of puppetry to Steam and Itch.io on 18th July with My Friendly Neighborhood.
My Friendly Neighborhood is a survival horror that takes players to an old TV studio, once the home to the colourful cast of kiddies favourite program My Friendly Neighborhood. The cast of this TV show enthralled audiences around the world for years but as the viewing figures declined so did the toy sales and it wasn’t long before the studio closed and the puppets lay lifeless. The program became one remembered by niche fandoms until one night when the studio clicks back into life and begins broadcasting the show once again. Under the apprehension of a technical error, the city sends Handyman Gordon to turn it off.
Taking the role of Gordon, players will need to enter the studio to solve this ‘technical issue’ by solving perilous playtime puzzles and fending off the My Friendly Neighborhood cast that have turned into ferocious, feral, fluffy monsters. With a mix of action and adventure, players will have to knock the stuffing out of the cast.
Featuring:
- A colourful cast of characters that may even have a chance to become friendly again.
- Non-linear, survival horror gameplay.
- Unique weapons like the Rolodexer.
- A variety of puzzles.
- A range of diverse environments.
- A grid-based real-time inventory.
My Friendly Neighborhood arrives on Steam and Itch.io on 18th July and will be coming to Xbox and Playstation consoles at a later date.
