Variety has revealed that Seth Gordon is in talks with Paramount to direct the big screen adaptation of the hit TV series Baywatch, which is set to star Dwayne Johnson (San Andreas).
Johnson has been linked to the film since last October, when he took to social media to announce that he would be involved in the project, which has been rumoured for many years since the show ended in 2001. Back then, the star said:
“This is my beach bitch!” Rumors are true… we’re making #BAYWATCH the movie. Edgy, raunchy and hopefully, funny as all hell. Cue slo mo running on the beach… #WhoNeedsMouthToMouth #RedShortsBeHugginABrotha
Gordon is best known for directing comedies Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief, as well as working on Sony’s Uncharted film, until he left the project earlier this year.
Baywatch, created by Michael Berk, Douglas Schwartz, Gregory J. Bonann, ran between 1989-2001, witha cast that included David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson amongst others.
