Shannen Doherty joins the Heathers TV pilot

November 22, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Shannen Doherty has taken to Instagram to announce that she’s set to appear in TV Land’s small screen adaptation of the cult 1988 dark comedy Heathers, posting the following image with the caption “sneak peek from the #Heathers set… jealous much?”.

Deadline reporting that Doherty will play a “pivotal” unnamed character in the pilot episode. The actress portrayed Heather Duke, one of the three Heathers, in the original movie, alongside Lisanne Falk and Kim Walker. Winona Ryder played Veronica Sawyer, with Christian Slater as Jason ‘J.D.’ Dean.

The potential series “will be set in the present day, as our heroine deals with a very different but equally vicious group of Heathers”, and stars Grace Victoria Fox in the lead role as Veronica, James Scully as J.D. and Melanie Field, Brendan Scannell and Jasmine Mathews as the three Heathers.

Heathers is written by Jason Micallef (Butter) with Leslye Headland (Sleeping with Other People) directing.
