We’ve seen movies break the internet time and time again. From The Blair Witch Project to the recent Barbenheimer craze, it’s quite the sight when a film can take over pop culture.
One of the best examples of that type of film is turning ten years old as the cult classic Sharknado celebrates a milestone anniversary. And for the first time, The Asylum is releasing the shark disaster film in theaters.
Celebrating with a brilliant Barbie-themed poster, Sharknado announced its return to pop culture with a quick teaser trailer. The Hollywood Reporter broke the story and let fans know they can get tickets for this cinematic summer event.
Directed by Anthony C. Ferrante, Sharknado debuted on SYFY on July 11, 2013, instantly becoming a viral smash. It would spawn four sequels released between 2014 and 2017, becoming a ratings smash for the channel. Tara Reid, Ian Ziering, and the late John Heard starred in the original film.
As you can infer from the title, the film sees a freak hurricane fill Los Angeles with nature’s deadliest killer as thousands of sharks terrorize the waterlogged populace through the sea and air.
As promised, expect “new kills” and “new thrills,” along with “more sharks, more ‘nado.” Check out the teaser below…
