It looks like Roger Hargreaves’ classic children’s book series Mr Men and Little Miss are heading to the big screen, with Fox Animation snapping up the rights to the beloved characters for an animated feature film which will be produced by Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum).
“I loved reading these books as a kid, and now I love reading them to my own kids,” said Janet Hsu, head of rights holders Sanrio, Inc. “Their humour, wit and uniquely specific tone make this a truly classic series. I can’t wait to help shepherd them to the big screen.”
Launching in 1971, the Mr Men and Little Miss series spanned 85 characters, selling over 120 million copies around the world, and also spawned a BBC cartoon series that ran between 1974 and 1985.
