Coinciding with the release of Netflix’s The Adam Project [read our review here], Deadline is reporting that director Shawn Levy looks set to reunite with Ryan Reynolds once more, with the filmmaker in talks with Marvel Studios to take the reins on the as-yet-untitled Deadpool 3.
The third movie in the X-Men spinoff series will bring Reynolds and Levy back into the Disney fold following last year’s 20th Century Studios hit Free Guy, which also has a sequel in early development. It will mark the first X-Men-related movie since Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, and the first to be produced by Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige.
So far, next to nothing is known about Marvel’s plans for Deadpool 3, although it has been confirmed by both Disney and Marvel that it will retain the R-rating of the first two Fox-produced movies. Deadpool and Deadpool 2 writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are writing the script, which has a previous draft from Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin.

At this point, it’s unclear whether Deadpool 3 will mark the Merc with a Mouth’s introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or if we’ll see him popping up beforehand in a different project (there’s been rumours of a potential Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness cameo, although Reynolds has “promised” that he isn’t in the upcoming film).
