Shazam! director says costume reveal is “right around the corner”, has similarities to Justice League: War

February 22, 2018 by Samuel Brace

The director of Shazam!, David F. Sandberg, has teased the pending reveal of the hero’s suit.

Shazam! might not be as anticipated as the likes of Avengers: Infinity War or even DC’s Aquaman, but the film is still generating discussion and fans of the character are eager to get a glimpse of Shazam in full superhero attire.

Well, fans won’t have to wait too much longer according to David. F Sandberg as the director has revealed via Reddit that Shazam’s suit design will be made public very soon.

When asked when the reveal with happen, Sandberg said: “WB have already decided yes. Actually if someone had managed to snap a shot of the suit last week when we were shooting outside they would have released an official pic right away. Since we got away with it they want to do more of an official thing. And it’s right around the corner…”

Sandberg also went on to tease the suit, stating that it “has some similarities to his look in Justice League: War“, referring to the DC animated movie where Shazam was sporting the following outfit:

And finally, as we await the official reveal, star Zachary Levi has taken to social media to tease his hairstyle for the character:

“We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Asher Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Zachary Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong).”

Shazam will see Zachary Levi starring as the titular superhero, with Asher Angel as his young alter-ego Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, Jovan Armand as Pedro Peña, Grace Fulton as Mary Marvel, Cooper Andrews as Victor Vasquez, Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley, Mark Strong as Dr. Thaddeus Sivana and Ron Cephas Jones as the Wizard. The film is set for release on April 5th 2019.
