You don’t need to be a Perry Mason level detective to work out that the clue might be in title as to why Tatiana Maslany isn’t returning to her role as Sister Alice McKeegan in the sophomore run of HBO’s successful drama series.
TVLine reports that the Emmy award-winning Orphan Black star will not be reprise her role because the character “arc came to an end as planned in the Season 1 finale.”
This news appears to fly in the face of numerous interviews that were given suggesting that there was room for the role of Sister Alice to grow in subsequent series. Maslany spoke to Collider when the limited series ended its first run, telling them “I think it’s the first chapter”.
However, it’s probably just good old fashioned scheduling conflicts that have put paid to Maslany’s time on Perry Mason, because she is also set to take on the title role of Jennifer Walters in Marvel Studios’ upcoming She-Hulk series on Disney+, which will probably get underway around about the same time as the HBO show.
