Simon Kinberg on when we might expect to see footage from The Fantastic Four reboot

October 21, 2014 by Thomas Roach

Writer-producer Simon Kinberg has spoken about the upcoming reboot The Fantastic Four whilst promoting the home entertainment release of X-Men: Days of Future Past, specifically when we might expect to see the first footage from the film…

“We’re putting it together now, and one of the important things, because this Fantastic Four is a reboot, and is such a different tonality and vibe from those other films, we want to make sure that the first thing we put out really expresses the voice of the movie, and isn’t compromised by not having visual effects ready, or anything like that. I don’t actually know when [a trailer is] coming out, but I’ve seen all the footage from the movie. I was there for pretty much the whole shoot. It is a very different film from the others, and one that I think is very different from other superhero movies. It’s a very emotional, character-driven, more grounded film than I think people are anticipating.”

It is good news that Simon Kinberg seems positive about the footage; the first trailer may not be released until some time next year, but but fingers crossed we get one before Christmas.

The Fantastic Four is set for release on August 7th 2015, with Josh Trank (Chronicle) directing a cast that includes Miles Teller (Divergent) as Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara (American Horror Story) as the Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan (Fruitville Station) as the Human Torch, Jamie Bell (Nymphomaniac) as The Thing, Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Doctor Doom, Reg E. Cathey (The Wire) as Dr. Storm, and Tim Blake Nelson (The Incredible Hulk) as Harvey Elder.
