Sin City TV series in development from Lucifer and The Walking Dead team

May 31, 2017 by Ricky Church

It looks like we can add a new addition to the growing list of comic book adaptations on television, as a show based on Frank Miller’s series of Sin City graphic novels will be making its way to the small screen.

Former The Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara and director Len Wiseman, who has not only directed the Underworld film franchise, but also directed episodes of Lucifer, will develop the series.

According to Deadline, the Sin City series will take close inspiration from the books, but also be a “fresh take” and departure from the films to be its own thing, which will include introducing original and timelines characters to the Sin City universe. Stephen L’Heureux, who produced Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, will produce the series with Miller, Mazzara, Wiseman and Bob and Harvey Weinstein.

Frank Miller began writing and drawing Sin City in the early 90s, starting with The Hard Goodbye. Heavily inspired by film noir, the series is an anthology about the residents of Basin City, many of them living on the wrong side of the law as they navigate through the different territories and criminal organizations within the city. Robert Rodriguez directed the first Sin City in 2004, featuring three of Miller’s stories, while Sin City: A Dame to Kill For largely adapted the second graphic novel in the series with two new original stories from Miller.

There’s no word on where Sin City will end up, but several networks are apparently vying for the series.
