Last month the Snowpiercer TV series for TNT lost its showrunner Josh Friedman due to creative differences and began searching for a new showrunner. That search is now over according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Graeme Manson, co-creator of the hit sci-fi series Orphan Black, which recently concluded its final season, has boarded Snowpiercer as the new showrunner.
“Graeme’s extensive background in the sci-fi genre coupled with his brilliant work behind Orphan Black made him the perfect choice for this series,” said Sarah Aubrey, EVP original programming at TNT. “He is the best conductor to navigate the thought provoking and delicate themes of the series while bringing this frozen, futuristic world to life.”
“I’ve been a tremendous fan of Graeme’s work and his creative vision aligns perfectly with shaping the Snowpiercer world for a television audience,” said Marty Adelstein, executive producer and CEO of Tomorrow Studios.
Snowpiercer takes place seven years after a new Ice Age has descended upon the world, with the survivors living on a gigantic train that constantly circles the globe. The series stars Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Mickey Sumner, Susan Park, Benjamin Haigh, Sasha Frolova, Katie McGuinness, Alison Wright, Annalise Basso, Sam Otto, Roberto Urbina, Sheila Vand, and Lena Hall.
