Ready for more Sonic The Hedgehog? With the popularity of Sonic 3 this holiday season, it’s safe to say a fourth movie would happen. Now, Paramount has confirmed the film with a release date.
The fourth installment will be released on March 19, 2027, with no competition currently set for that date. It would mark the second spring release for the franchise, following the second film, with 2020’s Sonic and 2024’s Sonic 3 having winter releases.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 debuted in December and has since grossed $422 million globally. It faced steep competition, with Moana 2 and Mufasa crowding the family-friendly market. Still, the beloved video game adaptation held its own and became one of the go-to movies of the holidays. Earlier this month, the Sonic franchise surpassed $1 billion at the box office thanks to this latest hit.
With fan-favorite Shadow The Hedgehog (Keanu Reeves) making his long-awaited first appearance and Jim Carrey pushing off retirement, the film has plenty of hype going into the release. Can Sonic The Hedgehog 4 use the debuts of Amy and Metal Sonic to capture that same fan fever? Only time will tell, but Paramount is enjoying this speedy success.
There is no word on whether Jeff Fowler is confirmed to direct again, but we’ll keep you posted with any updates. In the meantime, let us know over on our social channels @FlickeringMyth if you’re excited about the continuation of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise…
