2020’s surprise hit Sonic the Hedgehog will see another adventure around the globe.
Paramount Pictures and Sega Sammy confirmed on Thursday that they are developing a sequel to the family comedy film. Jeff Fowler will return as director, while Pat Casey and Josh Miller will pen the script. Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, and Toru Nakahara will produce the film, while Hajime Satomi, Haruki Satomi, and Tim Miller are executive producing.
Upon its release, Sonic the Hedgehog locked down the number one opening weekend of all time for a movie based on a video game and ended up with the fourth-best Presidents’ Day weekend debut ever. The film took home just over $300 million at the worldwide box office, with a budget of around $90 million.
