Sony dates two Marvel movies, likely Morbius and Venom 2

November 23, 2018 by Gary Collinson

In the build up to the release of Venom, it was said that Sony’s plans for its ‘Universe of Marvel Characters’ was dependent on the success of the symbiote’s solo movie, and with the Tom Hardy-headlined film closing in on $800 million worldwide it seems those plans are now being put into action.

The studio has set two release dates in 2020, with ‘Untitled Sony/Marvel Movie’ set to arrive on July 10th 2020, followed by ‘Untitled Sony/Marvel Sequel’ on October 2nd.

The former is presumably Morbius, the Living Vampire, which is slated to begin production early in the New Year with Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) directing and Jared Leto attached to star as Dr. Michael Morbius. And as for the latter, we’d have to assume that Sony isn’t planning on pumping out a Morbius sequel after just three months, so the only possibility really is Venom 2.

Now that we’ve seen Venom, what are your thoughts on Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters? Are you excited to see what the studio has in store, or are you yet to be convinced by the idea? Let us know in the comments below…

One of Marvel’s most enigmatic, complex and badass characters comes to the big screen, starring Academy Award nominated actor Tom Hardy as the lethal protector Venom.

Venom is directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) and features a cast that includes Tom Hardy, Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams, Woody Harrelson, Jenny Slate, Reid Scott, Scott Haze, Sope Aluko and Ron Cephas Jones.
