According to Deadline, Sony Pictures has hired Rodney Rothman, one of the writers on 22 Jump Street, to begin work on another sequel.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller have not committed to direct the next installment at this time, though “the directing job is theirs if they want it.” They are signed on to oversee the project, however, and will serve as producers along with Neal Moritz and stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.
Despite 22 Jump Street ending in a series of montages depicting humorous future sequels, it comes as no surprise that Sony would put a real sequel in development, after the $320 million gross of 22 Jump Street this summer.
We’ll have more news and updates about 23 Jump Street as they become available.
