The news of film delays is all too familiar these days as a result of the ongoing global health crisis, and now, Sony Pictures has added to that growing list as they have announced a delay for the sequel to 2019’s psychological horror film, Escape Room.
According to Deadline, Sony has delayed the upcoming Escape Room 2 from its December 30th, 2020 release date to an unspecified date sometime in 2021. This isn’t the first time the film has been delayed as it was previously scheduled to debut on August 14th, 2020 before being moved to the aforementioned December 30th.
Although plot details for Escape Room 2 are being kept under wraps, we do know the sequel will be directed once again by Adam Robitel from a script by returning screenwriter Bragi F. Schut. The film will feature a cast including Logan Miller and Taylor Russell who are set to reprise their roles from the first movie as well as newcomers Holland Roden (Teen Wolf), Indya Moore (Pose), Thomas Cocquerel (The 100), Carlito Olivero (Step Up: High Water), and Isabelle Fuhrman (Masters of Sex).
Escape Room followed six strangers who find themselves invited to take part in a mysterious escape room with a $10,000 prize, only to find themselves in a maze of deadly rooms, where they have to use their wits to survive.
