Space Jam 2 is being directed by Terence Nance (HBO’s Random Acts of Flyness) and will mark NBA superstar James’ first leading acting role. James will also produce the film alongside Ryan Coogler (Black Panther), while Justin Lin (Star Trek Beyond) executive produces.
Released in 1996, Space Jam saw Michael Jordan teaming up with Bugs Bunny and company for a basketball game against the Monstars, a group of aliens who want to enslave the Looney Tunes characters in their intergalactic amusement park.
