We’ll likely be seeing them sharing the screen in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, but first we’ll see a team-up between Spider-Man and Doctor Strange (well, sort of) in The Current War, with Tom Holland signing on to appear alongside Benedict Cumberbatch.
Holland is set to play Samuel Insull, the right hand man of Cumberbatch’s Thomas Edison, in the film, which revolves around the rivalry between Edison and George Westinghouse (Michael Shannon) as they vie for the electricity market in the United States in the 1880s. Katherine Waterston (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) will play Westinghouse’s wife Marguerite Erskine, while Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Apocalypse) is also on board as Nikola Tesla.
Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) is directing The Current War, from a script by Michael Mitnick (The Giver, Vinyl).
