Christopher Daniel Barnes, who voiced Spider-Man across all five seasons of Spider-Man: The Animated Series, would love to reprise his role in the upcoming sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
In a recent interview on Its Recording Time, Barnes admitted he would feel “honoured” to voice an older Spider-Man character in Into the Spider-Verse 2.
“That would be great,” Barnes said. “I’ve reprised the role several times in video games … so that would be great. If I could do that again, I’d be honoured. “I’m getting kind of old to do it but I’d be happy to play an older Spider-Man.”
In addition to voicing Spider-Man in all aired 65 episodes of the animated series, Barnes voiced several iterations of the character across multiple video games, including Spider-Man Noir in 2010’s Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and Spider-Man 2099 Miguel O’Hara, in 2011’s Spider-Man: Edge of Time.
Barnes also returned for the animated television series, Ultimate Spider-Man, where he voiced Spyder-Knight, Wolf Spider and Sinister Six member Electro.
Although very little is known regarding the plot of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2, Sony CEO Amy Pascal has teased the sequel will focus on Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy’s romance in between two universes.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 is being directed by Joaquim Dos Santos (Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra), while Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will once again produce alongside Avi Arad and Amy Pascal.
