According to THR, Spike Lee is teaming with Get Out helmer Jordan Peele for Black Klansman, a thriller exploring the true story of an African-American police officer who infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan.
Black Klansman is based on the 2014 book of the same name by Ron Stallworth, a detective in Colorado Springs who answered an ad in his local newspaper seeking new KKK members and managed to gain membership, subsequently rising through the ranks to become head of his local chapter. Through his undercover work, Stallworth would gain valuable intelligence, as well as sabotaging several of the hate group’s cross-burnings and other activities
Lee is set to direct the film, as well as producing alongside Peele and Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions, while Denzel Washington’s son John David Washington (Ballers) is in talks for the lead role of Detective Stallworth.
