After more than a year of speculation, Lucasfilm has announced the principal cast for J.J. Abrams’ eagerly-anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII following a table-read of the script in London today…
Confirmed as reprising their roles from the Original Trilogy are Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Kenny Baker (R2-D2) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), while Adam Driver (Girls), Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis), Andy Serkis (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Domhnall Gleeson (Dredd), John Boyega (Attack the Block), Daisy Ridley (Silent Witness), and Max von Sydow (The Exorcist).
We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII,” said Abrams. “It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”
So, what do we make of that cast? And who might the new additions be playing?
Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled for release on December 18th 2015.
