Star Wars: Episode VII resumes production following Harrison Ford’s injury

August 28, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Good news for Star Wars fans – after shutting down production for several weeks in the wake of Harrison Ford’s leg injury on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII, it has now been announced the filming on the eagerly-anticipated first chapter of Disney’s Sequel Trilogy has now resumed in the U.K.

Ford suffered a broken leg back in May during an accident on the Millennium Falcon set, forcing director J.J. Abrams to rejig the schedule for Episode VII, before taking a break throughout August. However, with Ford now seemingly fully recovered from his injury, it looks like the film is back on track to meet its December 2015 release date, much to the relief of fans.

Star Wars: Episode VII sees returning stars Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Kenny Baker (R2-D2) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) joined by Adam Driver (Girls), Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis), Andy Serkis (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Domhnall Gleeson (Dredd), John Boyega (Attack the Block), Daisy Ridley (Silent Witness), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave), Max von Sydow (The Exorcist), Christina Chong (24: Live Another Day) and newcomers Crystal Clarke and Pip Andersen.
