Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – the new Disney theme park – apparently hit maximum capacity within just an hour of its opening.
Star Wars is an enormously popular film property, spanning many generations, so its no surprise interest in Disney’s new theme park – Galaxy’s Edge – is also gigantic.
According to a report in THR, the new park took no time at all to hit maximum capacity on its opening day: “It took less than an hour before people were turned away from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on Monday, the first day it was open to the full public at Disneyland in Anaheim.
“The immensely popular land was even opened 30 minutes early, at 7:30 a.m.; by 8:20 a.m., no more walk-ins were allowed. And the Disneyland app made it clear some people might not get in at all. The wait for the ride for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run was already three hours, according to the official Disneyland app.”
The park will be more accessible moving forward, however, as: “Now guests are allowed to walk right into the land as long as it is not at capacity (Disney will not say what that number is). Once that happens, guests will have to use the Disneyland app to get an entrance time in the virtual queue.”

So, it seems like initial interest is right where Disney needs it to be. It will be interesting to see if Galaxy’s Edge becomes one of Disneyland’s most beloved attractions for years to come.
