Some good news for Darth Sidious’ Sith Eternal fan club members as somehow Palpatine is set to return (again), with Star Wars actor Ian McDiarmid revealing during a recent convention appearance that he’ll soon be seen back in the robes as The Emperor.
“There’s a certain show coming soon set right around the time I may have been considered to be very active,” said McDiarmid during a panel at the Imperial Commissary Collectors Convention (via Star Wars News Net). “Whether or not you will see my physical body, I cannot comment on. But you will certainly feel my presence.”
Lucasfilm does have two shows incoming that fit the bill in Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi and Star Wars: Andor, both of which fit the criteria. Hayden Christensen is set to feature as Darth Vader in Obi-Wan, and so it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see Vader interacting with his Master (via hologram, perhaps?).
However, while the Kenobi series seems the obvious choice, it’s worth noting that Palpatine is also active during the timeframe of the Rogue One prequel Andor, where he remains the public face of the Imperial Senate is his Dark Lord downtime. Could we maybe get to see more of The Senate-side of Palps post-Revenge of the Sith, interacting perhaps with traitorous senators like Mon Mothma or Bail Organa?
