Liam Neeson, who starred as Qui-Gon Jinn in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, says that he has never been asked back for another on-screen performance.
While Qui-Gon Jinn has proven to be a very popular character over the years, the last and only time we saw Liam Neeson play the character in the flesh was in 1999’s The Phantom Menace.
Since then he has lent his voice to Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels and Qui-Gon was even heard in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but the actor didn’t record any new dialogue for that cameo.
Has Neeson actually been asked to come back for another performance as Qui-Gon? The actor gave his answer to Collider, explaining that he isn’t really up to date on the franchise:
“I’ve done the voice for Qui-Gon Jinn in a couple of the animated versions of it. I can’t remember the names of them. Myself and Sam Jackson did our Jedi knights for those. I think I did two of them. But on film, I haven’t been approached, no. I haven’t really been following them, to be honest. I don’t know if they’ve come to an end. I heard they did a film of Harrison Ford’s character, Han Solo, and that there was a bit of trouble with that. What do you think? Are Star Wars fans finished with it?”

Neeson clearly doesn’t pay too much attention to pop culture or the Star Wars franchise these days but who knows, perhaps he will get that call one day if Qui-Gon is required for a future project, such as the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series perhaps?
