The Force was certainly strong with Star Wars this past weekend, with the premiere of the Disney+ original series Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi kicking off Star Wars Celebration 2022 and smashing records for Disney’s streaming service along the way.
As reported by the official Star Wars social media accounts, the Ewan McGregor-led Obi-Wan series became “the most-watched Disney+ Original series premiere globally to date based on hours streamed in an opening weekend,” topping the likes of The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Marvel Studios’ biggest series to date, Loki.
While Disney didn’t elaborate further with any specific numbers, the Mouse House did go on to boast that viewership on Disney+’s Star Wars library tripled in watch hours off the back of the two-episode premiere. The third episode meanwhile launched today (Wednesday) and is available to stream now.
