Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Episode 6 Review – “Zero Friends Again”

January 1, 2025 by Chris Connor

Chris Connor reviews the sixth episode of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew…

Skeleton Crew’s fifth episode finally revealed some of the secrets at the heart of the show as we found out the infamous pirate Tak Rennod was the previous captain of the ship which in turn was revealed to the Onyx Cinder. The show’s sixth episode feels in some ways like an epilogue to that episode with the kids stuck on Lanupa while Jude Law’s Jod is recaptured by his old crew who sentence him to death. Of course, this doesn’t go according to plan with Jod and KB now having the locations to At Attin.

While one of the shortest episodes to date coming in at 27 minutes before the credits, the episode still packs in plenty of thrills, focusing more on the children with Jod’s role largely in the opening few minutes of the episode. We subsequently follow the crew’s efforts to survive on Lanupa, struggling with the cold and harsh environment. The crew split with Wim and KB following crab-like creatures that appear friendly, adding to the Star Wars universe’s iconic creatures.

Bryce Dallas Howard has shown in her work on The Mandalorian that she perfectly understands the universe and this builds on her work there. It is a gripping episode that will light on plot, fleshes out the characters’ relationships. The show continues to remind us why audiences fell in love with the franchise to start off with and it remains a gripping watch that has found a balance for younger audiences and adults.

To its credit with just two episodes remaining, there remains no link to the broader universe, we can only hope should there be an appearance from Din Djarin, Ezra Bridger or whoever else that it is earned and doesn’t distract from the core storyline of the show. With two episodes remaining, there are some loose ends for the series to wrap up. However, with the highly positive reception to the series and discussions around a second season, there may well be adventures for the crew beyond the culmination of this season.
