Development on the Disney+ Star Wars series The Acolyte is really picking up as the show has just made another new addition to its cast, with Deadline reporting that Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game) has signed on to play the show’s male lead.
The news comes shortly after Jodie Turner-Smith’s (Queen & Slim) casting to the series. Jung-jae and Turner-Smith will star opposite Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give), who will be leading the series. Details on their characters, as has been typical of a Star Wars project these past few years, is being kept under wraps.
The Acolyte will take place approximately 100 years before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace and has been described as a “mystery-thriller that will take the audience into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.”
Star Wars: The Acolyte is being written, directed and showrun by Leslye Headland (Russian Doll). Productionis expected to begin in London in the fall.
