With UK cinemas planning to re-open their doors following months of lockdown in the wake of the global health crisis, Variety is reporting that exhibitors will be dipping into studio libraries in order to tempt moviegoers back through their doors.
Cinema chain Vue is set to show Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back in its newly-remastered 4K form, marking the first time that any of the Original Trilogy movies have been screened theatrically to fans in the UK.
Disney is said to be offering The Empire Strikes Back (which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year) to U.K. distributors alongside a number of other titles from its back catalogue, which will help to fill out the multiplex screens as we await new releases such as Mulan, Tenet, The New Mutants, Wonder Woman 1984 and A Quiet Place Part II.
UK cinema chain Cineworld announced yesterday that it plans to reopen from July 10th, and while the likes of Vue and Odeon are yet to reveal their plans, it is believed they too are targeting early July.
