The opening crawl for Star Wars: The High Republic has been revealed, setting the stage for the story to come.
It’s a tradition for most Star Wars stories to receive an opening crawl, a set of text that moves up the screen that introduces the current state of the galaxy at the story’s starting point.
Well, we now have an official opening crawl for Star Wars: The High Republic, the ambitious multi-media publishing project set hundreds of years before the prequel era.
Revealed on StarWars.com, the crawl reads:
“The galaxy is at peace, ruled by the glorious REPUBLIC and protected by the noble and wise JEDI KNIGHTS.
“As a symbol of all that is good, the Republic is about to launch STARLIGHT BEACON into the far reaches of the Outer Rim. This new space station will serve as a ray of hope for all to see.
“But just as a magnificent renaissance spreads throughout the Republic, so does a frightened new adversary. Now the guardians of peace and justice must face a threat to themselves, the galaxy, and the Force itself….”
The High Republic certainly promises to be an exciting new era in the Star Wars mythos, hopefully bringing a lot of new and original stories and characters to fans. But don’t worry, the odd familiar face like Yoda is still in the mix.
