Last month, Disney+ delivered a big surprise for fans of the Star Wars saga by dropping previously-unannounced 4K versions of the Original Trilogy and Prequel Trilogy to the streaming service. However, non-subscribers – or those who still prefer their media physical – will soon be able to get their hands on Ultra HD versions of the complete Skywalker Saga too with the release of a 27-disc box set coming exclusively to Amazon in 2020.
The box set marks the first time that The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi have been available in home video format in 4K, and also features The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and the final chapter, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Being that it’s a Skywalker Saga box set, the Anthology movies Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Solo: A Star Wars Story are both absent from the release, but Solo is already available to purchase separately in 4K and Rogue One is reportedly set to follow in March 2020. As yet, there’s no word whether there are any plans to release the episodes of the Skywalker Saga individually in 4K, although one would suspect those releases will follow in due course.
