The latest teaser trailer for DC Universe and The CW’s new DC series Stargirl has revealed a first look at the super heroine’s sidekick, S.T.R.I.P.E. (Special Tactics Robotic Integrated Power Enhancer) – a 15 foot hulking mechsuit piloted by Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson), Stargirl’s stepfather and the sidekick to the original Starman.
Stargirl was set to premiere alongside new episodes of The Flash and act as a lead-in for Flash on weekday nights, but with the Scarlet Speedster’s show having gone on hiatus due to its production shutdown, Stargirl will instead premiere May 18th on the DC Universe app and May 19th on The CW alongside DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

Stargirl will follow the story of Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger) who is a smart, athletic and above all else kind girl. This high school teenager’s seemingly perfect life hits a major speedbump when her mother gets married, and her new family moves from Los Angeles, California to Blue Valley, Nebraska. Struggling to adapt to a new school, make new friends and deal with a new step-family, Courtney discovers her step-father has a secret; he used to be the sidekick to a superhero. “Borrowing” the long-lost hero’s cosmic staff, Courtney becomes the unlikely inspiration for an entirely new generation of superheroes.
