Steven Spielberg to shoot Indiana Jones 5 in 2019

January 29, 2018 by Matt Rodgers

Despite initial reports that Steven Spielberg would make his West Side Story remake the next film on his schedule, The Hollywood Reporter is suggesting the musical will remain on the back-burner whilst the director finds the right cast, pushing the filming of Indiana Jones 5 to the top of the list.

The report claims that Spielberg will ask Harrison Ford to don the Fedora in 2019, with a proposed 2020 release date.

There shouldn’t be any concern with such project juggling from Spielberg. Anyone who can film Jurassic Park and Schindler’s List in the same year (1993), and cram in a five-star awards contender such as The Post during his Ready Player One downtime, should be able to create a film to banish memories of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and reinvent a classic musical for a new generation.

Are you happy with Spielberg’s choices? A remake and fourth sequel to a decades old franchise, or does his taken-for-granted genius mean that you’ll watch anything he makes?
