The Duffer Brothers won’t let the Upside Down go as they gear up for even more Stranger Things.
In the style of iconic Saturday morning cartoons, Netflix ordered an animated series set within the world of the show, with creators the Duffer brothers set to executive produce via Upside Down Pictures along with Robles of Flying Bark as well as Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps.
“We’ve always dreamed of an animated Stranger Things in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling,” the Duffer brothers said in a statement. We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with — the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues…”
Little is known about the animated series besides the fact Eric Robles and Flying Bark Productions developed it. Robles’ Flying Bark has previously created the animated series, Random! Cartoons, Fanboy & Chum Chum, and Glitch Techs.
As we know, this won’t be the only thing to continue the Stranger Things legacy, as the main series ends very soon. There were previous reports of a stage show that would take place in Hawkins in 1959, debuting in London’s West End. There’s also a reported live-action spin-off in the works, but the Duffers have yet to update on that.
Stranger Things Season 5 will reportedly air sometime in 2024.
