Now that the Upside Down is temporarily closed, Stranger Things director Shawn Levy has a new project coming up. Tracking Board has reported 20th Century Fox has picked up the sci-fi film Crater with Levy producing and directing the film.
Crater is written by John J. Griffin, making his screenwriting debut. The film is described as a coming of age story set on the moon. It follows a young boy who lives in a lunar mining colony, but after the death of the boy’s father, he and his four best friends decide to make a trek to explore a mysterious crater before he is permanently relocated to a different planet.
Levy will produce Crater through his 21 Laps banner with Dan Levine and visual effects supervisor Rpin Suwannath. Suwannath also developed the idea with Griffin. In the meantime, Levy is developing a live action Uncharted film with Spider-Man actor Tom Holland and the psychological thriller Epiphany for The CW.
