Back at the start of July, Anna Kendrick expressed her interest in portraying The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it seems she’s not the only one lobbying for the role.
A few weeks ago Stranger Things star Shannon Purser tweeted “So who do I talk to about being Squirrel Girl?”, and now the young actress has been talking more about the character during an interview with Revelist about the character:
“I think Squirrel Girl is just adorable but at the same time is totally boss and completely awesome,” said Purser. “I think people need a character like that. It’s easy in the superhero realm to feel like a lot of the female superheroes we see are grown women who are super responsible and know what their purpose is and that kind of thing. Squirrel Girl is a little bit younger and like a real person, trying to figure out her life and then also having to save the world. I love that.”
Would Purser be a better fit for Squirrel Girl than Anna Kendrick, should Marvel ever decide to introduce the character into its cinematic universe? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
