Studio Ghibli has confirmed that the beloved studio is currently working on two brand new films, one of which will be a feature film from Hayao Miyazaki – who has recently come out of retirement (again).
The Japanese animation studio announced the news during their annual New Year’s message (via IGN), in which the news revealed a secret second project alongside Miyazaki’s coming-of-age feature film, Kimi-tachi wa Dō Ikiru ka (How Do You Live?). However, the message didn’t provide any details on a release schedule for either film.
This news comes shortly after HBO Max secured the U.S. streaming rights for Studio Ghibli titles including Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Howl’s Moving Castle, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Ponyo, Castle in the Sky, and The Tale of The Princess Kaguya, when the service launches in Spring 2020.
