Earlier this week Universal Pictures and Legendary Entertainment kicked off production on Detective Pikachu, the first live-action Pokemon movie, and now we have word from THR of a new addition to the cast.
The site is reporting that Suki Waterhouse (The Bad Batch, Assassination Nation) has signed on to appear in an as-yet-unrevealed role, where she’ll star alongside Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies), Ken Watanabe (Godzilla), Bill Nighy (The Limehouse Golem) and Chris Geere (Modern Family). Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds is taking on the title role as Detective Pikachu.
Detective Pikachu is being directed by Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) and will see Smith’s character teaming up with the Pokemon to unravel the mystery of his father’s kidnapping. It is set for release on May 10th, 2019.
