Having made only the briefest of appearances in the DC Extended Universe, reimagined as a CIA operative for a cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Superman’s pal Jimmy Olsen is heading back to the screen as part of James Gunn’s DC Universe.
Coming hot on the heels of the castings of Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor as Sara Sampaio as henchwoman Miss Teschmacher, it has now been reported that Skyler Gisondo (Booksmart, The Righteous Gemstones) has joined Superman: Legacy in the role of Jimmy Olsen.
The actor joins a long list of actors to have taken on the role of the young photojournalist, although his most notable portrayals are that of Jack Larson in 1950s’ Adventures of Superman TV series and Marc McClure in the Christopher Reeve Superman films.
Gisondo’s Olsen will join fellow Daily Planet staffers Clark Kent and Lois Lane, played by David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, while the rest of the cast includes Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern/Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho and María Gabriela De Faría as The Engineer.
Superman: Legacy is scheduled to open in theaters on July 11th, 2025.
