Hot off their recent collaboration on gothic horror movie The Baby in the Basket (out now in the US and UK), Flickering Myth, Shepka Productions and Jolliffe Productions have announced a follow-up project, Death Among the Pines, will begin production next month ahead of a 2026 release.
With a screenplay penned by genre writer Tom Jolliffe (Renegades, Cinderella’s Revenge), the Hitchcockian suspense thriller will star Nicolette McKeown (Mercy Falls, Damaged), Nathan Shepka (When Darkness Falls, Dead Before They Wake), Stephen Kerr (The Defender, The Reign of Queen Ginnarra) and Olly Bassi (Dick Dynamite: 1944, Masters of the Air).
Set in Scotland in the late 1970’s, farm cottage dweller Angela (McKeown) receives a knock on the door by a damp and dirty stranger (Shepka) claiming that his tyre has blown a couple of miles down the road. Angela lets him in to warm up but is this man really telling the truth? Matters are then further complicated by the arrival of a police officer (Kerr) asking questions.
The film will begin production in mid-March in southern Scotland with Nathan Shepka resuming directorial duties after 2025’s Dead Before They Wake and The Baby in the Basket and will be produced by Flickering Myth CEO Gary Collinson and returning executive producer Sanatan Kadakia of Hidden Ridge Productions.
“We are excited to be teaming up with Flickering Myth and Jolliffe again on a tense, tightly wound thriller geared for streaming audiences,” said Shepka. “The hope was that The Baby in the Basket would be the start of many fruitful collaborations.”
“Now that The Baby in the Basket is finally available to audiences, we are delighted to be turning our focus to our next collaboration with Shepka Productions and Jolliffe Productions,” added Collinson. “We look forward to sharing more details and insight into Death Among the Pines with our readers and followers over the coming months.”
The announcement follows on from last week’s UK and US release of the gothic horror feature The Baby in the Basket, which has drawn comparisons to classic British horror fare such as Hammer Films and was described by The Guardian as “low-budget nun fun”. The Baby in the Basket is streaming now via Tubi in the US and via Prime Video, Apple TV and Sky Store in the UK as well as in stores and via Amazon and HMV on DVD (having just debuted at #31 on The Official UK Video Chart).
We’ll be sharing more details on Death Among the Pines very soon, but in the meantime, if you’d like to help support the film and get involved we’ll shortly be launching a finishing funds crowdfunding campaign offering special thanks, Associate and Executive Producer credits, voice roles and more.
